If only I could have seen Darcey's final appearance - that she should choose to dance to Das liede...would, for me, have been almost too much! I'm a Mahler devotee - even the hackneyed passages, like the adagio in Symphone No.5, which has become a cliche after it was used in Death in Venice, can still reduce me to tears.

"... dancing hesitantly towards a unknown future ..." (Judith Mackrell). Lovely, Celia. Thank you. Farewell, slender elegance. Farewell, mesmerising legs and feet. Farewell, Darcey.

I'm with you there, Celia. Being a choral singer, I have an ambition to sing in the chorus in Mahler's Symphonies 2 and 8. Some hope!
